Highrise Lullaby

Neon rivers down below
Office lights in steady rows
I’m the last one in the tower
Trading hearts for staying in power

Maybe there’s a world I missed
One with warmth and softer risks
But here I am, and here I stay
Counting wins that slipped away

Cigarette smoke curls and sways
In the glass, my own face fades
Midnight files and unpaid dues
But no one’s waiting past the news

Maybe there’s a world I missed
One with warmth and softer risks
But here I am, and here I stay
Counting wins that slipped away

Did I climb too high to feel the sky?
Lost in suits and long goodbyes
Chased a dream that never called me back
Now love’s a line I never tracked
And the lights out there, they never lie
This is my highrise lullaby

Calendar full, but life is thin
Smiles I fake, promotions win
They said one day it all makes sense
But silence pays a different rent

Maybe there’s a world I missed
One with warmth and softer risks
But here I am, and here I stay
Counting wins that slipped away

Phone asleep since half-past ten
No one asks me how I’ve been
City hums a distant song
But I can’t tell where I belong

Maybe there’s a world I missed
One with warmth and softer risks
But here I am, and here I stay
Counting wins that slipped away

Did I climb too high to feel the sky?
Lost in suits and long goodbyes
Chased a dream that never called me back
Now love’s a line I never tracked
And the lights out there, they never lie
This is my highrise lullaby

Did I climb too high to feel the sky?
Lost in suits and long goodbyes
Chased a dream that never called me back
Now love’s a line I never tracked
And the lights out there, they never lie
This is my highrise lullaby
